Seasonal Cleanings
Spring and Fall Cleanups are Citywide initiatives to clean up personal property in Garden City. City waste collection crews facilitate the effort with expanded residential neighborhood collections routes. Residents may place unwanted items on the curb for crew to collect and dispose of. The City is divided into eight collection areas with separate pickup dates.
Approved Items
Items eligible for pick-up must be sorted and placed by the street curb by 8 am on the scheduled day of neighborhood collection. Alley pick-ups will not be accommodated. Do not block water meters with debris.
- Sort tree trimmings, old furniture, boxes, and appliances into separate piles.
- Tree trimmings may not be longer than 8 feet in length.
- Limit one truckload of tree branches/brush per home.
- Refrigerators and air conditioners will not need to be discharged. Special care should be taken to ensure old refrigerators and similar appliances are child-proofed (remove or tie the doors shut) to prevent the changes of serious mishap.
- During cleanup, homeowners will be charged for tire pick-up prices may vary depending on the tire. Semi tires will not be picked up homeowner will be responsible of disposal.
Prohibited Items
- Any wastes created by a contractor for tree trimming, home remodeling, etc.
- Building demolition debris
- Grass clippings
- Leaves
- Liquid paints and petroleum products (i.e. oil, roofing tar, crack sealer, gasoline, diesel)
- Shingles or roofing materials
- Vehicle motors or batteries
- Semi tires
